How to Tell Your Story

The site is still in testing. If you write a story please do not CLICK publish until the story is fully finished or it may be subject to removal.

All NEW users have the ability to create up to 3 stories. That number will increase once the site goes fully live.

You may view stories by clicking the eye icon on your page. THIS PAGE IS A WORK IN PROGRESS.

Once you’ve signed up on DontTurnAround.com you can create your own stories.

CLICK ON: CREATE STORY

Enter the story title (This can be changed later).

Enter the description of your story (This can be changed later).

Select/Create a cover image for your story (This can be changed later).

Write a description of the cover (For accessibility).

Click CREATE STORY

If the message: “This URL is already taken” this means your story TITLE has already been used. We currently do not allow titles of the same name to exist.

To Add DTA Characters

CLICK: Characters

Don’t Turn Around has shared some of its characters that you can use on the site.

CLICK on the + SYMBOL to ADD these characters to your STORY.

To Add Your Own Original Characters

Navigate and CLICK: New Character

You will be asked to ADD a NAME (cannot be changed) AND the image that represents that character on their phone profile.

CLICK: Create Character

NEW USERS have the ability to PUBLISH up to 6 characters. This can be increased by contacting DTA at PaulHoughEntertainment@yahoo.com and asking for a limit increase.

Story Settings

Publication Status

ONLY when your story is completely finished hit PUBLISH. This will PUBLISH the video LIVE to the SITE. Any ABUSE of this will result in your account being terminated.

Story ID

This is a identifier number of your story should you want to ask DTA a question about it.

Content & SEO

This is where you're able to change your TITLE and DESCRIPTION.

At this time, users are not able to add links into their descriptions.

Keywords & Tags

Insert 3-4 words or phrases that best describe your story, to help it get found on search engines. Example: scary texting story, creepy, school bus

Cover Image

This is where you can change your cover image for your story.

Background Music

This is where you can add copyright-free background music.

Coming Soon you will be able to pick copyright-free music from the DTA library.

Story Creation

Add your CHARACTERS first then navigate to "NEW CHAT"

Here you are able to select which character is speaking - a timestamp - and their message.

You can also have them send a PHOTO.

Additionally by clicking NARRATION you can add TEXT NARRATION into the story.

By clicking NARRATION AUDIO you can add in a SOUND FX or line of dialogue - that will play when that particular message occurs.

Clicking CREATE CHAT will put your first message into your story.

Repeat this STEP multiple times to CREATE your texting conversation.

You are ABLE to GRAB the text window by the grabber icon to rearrange texts.

To VIEW the progress of your story click on the EYE icon on the top right of screen.

ONLY click PUBLISH when your story is 100% finished.

You can MAKE one of your characters the PRIMARY character (they appear on the right) by assigning them PRIMARY status.
